Alfons Heiderich

Background Alfons is a gentle young woman with a rather strange childhood. Her father, despite his best interests for his family and his devotion to the ones he cared about most, had always wanted a son. But having two daughters started to diminish his hope of ever having a son of his own. But when his wife got pregnant for the third time, he swore that he would raise this final child as a boy, and name him/her “Alfons”, after his great-grandfather who he looked up to very, very much.
Unfortunately for him, the child that came out of his wife’s womb was a girl, but that didn’t stop him from deciding to name her Alfons, or raising the young woman as a man.
Ever since she was a little girl, Alfons had mixed feelings about her background. On one hand, she enjoyed making her father happy, and on the other hand, she disliked this charade and just wanted to be a girl, just like everyone else. Eventually this ‘farce’ became so ingrained into her psyche and personality that Alfons, without realizing it, became a bit of a tomboy. She loved cooking and could do laundry and take care of the house like any hausfrau that Alfons had ever met, but her passion for electronics, rocketry, space engineering, science and mathematics set her apart from the rest of her gender, causing her to be outcast even if she had been raised feminine.
Alfons was treated well and was happy, despite her initial inhibitions and her paradoxical lifestyle…but she wanted something more out of life. She wanted to see more of the world, instead of the bit outside her tiny window in Munich. Her dream was to touch the stars, and the only way she could ever achieve that dream was to go far herself, and step out her front door for a change and she knew that. She was searching the internet for potential abroad study schools in Junior High, and found Suzuran on the list. Giving a nod to its credentials, Alfons decided that this would be the place where she would spend her three years of High School and start over. All she needed was to learn Japanese, do well in Junior High, pass the entrance exams, and she was set…
And now, here she is, a sophomore at Suzuran Gakuen, and the head of the school’s Astronomy Club.
Story so Far: Alfons Heiderich met the handsome Edward Elric and Takeshi Momoshiro, getting a crush on both of them (she has no head-over-heels feeling for either of them though...though she's starting to grow more powerful affections for both people). She is unsure exactly where she stands with both, and after she met Hughes-sensei and the librarian Roy, she's hoping to find some adult counsel, especially since her closest friends (Sakura Kinomoto, Sakura Haruno, and even Bridget) are all involved in their own issues right now, and doesn't wish to get them involved in her problems. Alfons is nervous about the approach of the school dance, and is starting to wonder if Edward truly cares for her as a person and not as a replacement of his brother... Favorite Music: Despite her appearance, she really loves soft music. She has a lot of favorite bands and singers from her home country, but she also likes songs in English, even though she doesn't really understand them. She will also listen to J-pop and J-rock on occasion. Her favorite Japanese singer is Ayumi Hamasaki.
Least Favorite Music: Screaming metal.
Favorite Subject: Science, Math, Astronomy.

Favorite Sport: Swimming (It's the only sport she can actually do)

Future Dream: To become a well-respected rocket scientist, using her skills to create the ship that will one day send the Human race colonizing other worlds.

Distinguishing features/Mental Characteristics/Interesting FactsDistinguishing features: Short, blond hair; blue eyes; very tall (five foot eleven); very large breasts (estimated to be an American “E” size); Almost consistent blush; Has a coral pink Nintendo DS in her bag, that she plays while waiting for/on the train, as well as at lunch; Refers to herself as 'boku' due to habit, and says 'de gozaimasu' instead of 'desu'.
Personality: Shy, and very reserved, but still very willing to make friends and talk to others. Alfons normally spends her time messing with her various electrical items of interest (everything from model rockets to video game systems), and because of her 'masculine' interests, it's hard to connect well with other girls. Alfons's nose is also commonly in a book (those aren't just textbooks she has in her backpack!), so because of that she sometimes feels even more isolated. Unable to turn away anyone who looks to be in need of help, Alfons is also, in some ways, a regular Pollyanna (this can work for or against her, depending on who it is and how the situation goes).
Interesting facts: Alfons actually doesn't have the best of eyesight. She feels self-conscious, so she never wears her glasses (even though they look very good on her) unless she reads or if she's at home. She's been thinking about wearing contact lenses, but the idea of putting something in her eye frightens her. She also has a strong affection for dogs and cats, and wants to own one of each (a golden retriever and a gray tabby). Alfons is also very physically weak, and gets sick very easily. In Phys Ed she tends to trip and fall over herself, and when she runs too much she starts to get an asthma attack. Though Alfons is quite good at swimming.
Relationships Bridget: Despite the fact that Bridget is the first friend that Alfons ever made in Suzuran Academy, due to her knowing that he is, in fact, male, Alfons can't really consider him a 'female friend' like she does the Sakuras. But even so, she looks to him as the only person in Suzuran that she can talk to about her video game addiction, and cares for him very much as a sempai as a friend (even though they don't see each other very much). She also likes the nickname he gave her, "HeiHei-chan". She wants to get to know him better, and maybe even go to an arcade with him sometime.
Sakura Kinomoto: The first female friend she has made in her entire life, Sakura Kinomoto (as she calls her, Sakura-chan) is a very precious person to Alfons. Alfons tends to feel very inferior around her because of how cute and petite Sakura is, but looks at her with a sort of protectiveness...she sees Sakura-chan as very vulnerable, and very in need of protection...Alfons isn't sure if she can give her this protection, but ever since the day that Sakura held her and cried in her dorm, Alfons decided that she'd be there for the girl whenever she could.
Sakura Haruno: The second female friend Alfons has met in Suzuran, who ironically is in a rivalry with Sakura Kinomoto. Despite the harshness that Saku-chan holds towards Sakura-chan, Alfons sees Saku-chan as a kindred spirit of sorts, and looks up to her a lot. She's the sort of person that Alfons wants to be like: strong, intelligent, independent, and able to stand on her own two feet...out of all the friends Alfons has made, she trusts Saku-chan the most. After she gave Alfons a pair of red hair barrettes to use, Alfons now wears them anytime she can.
Takeshi Momoshiro: One of the two boys that Alfons has a crush on, Alfons sees him as a sweet, cheerful person who brightens her day just by smiling or waving at her. As the first person who called her "Alfons-chan", Alfons started to fall almost immediately, unused to that sort of attention from boys. She wishes that she could get him to at least notice her as more of a friend, but at the same time feels horrible that she likes him, because she likes Edward, too. She gets a bit intimidated since he likes to hang around Ryoma Echizen, who scares her sometimes because of his rather curt nature. But she intends to, at least, become better friends with Momoshiro, even if she can't become his girlfriend. She's excited, because sometime soon, she'll be able to go with Momo-chan to an arcade, just like she's wanted to...
Edward Elric: The other of the two boys that Alfons has a crush on, Alfons was rather blindsighted by his initial proposal for them to go out to lunch, but it was because of that meeting that her feelings for Edward had begun to grow. She is slightly put off at the fact that when they first met he mentioned that she looked like his younger brother, Alphonse Elric (who she has never met yet), and she worries that he is only talking to her because of that resemblance, and not because of her as a person. He is Alfons's date to the winter dance, and she hopes that that they can have a good time, and perhaps get to know each other better...and maybe end this whole ordeal with her liking two boys so she can finally choose one...because at the moment she likes both Ed and Momo equally. She wants to cook him dinner sometime in thanks for the lunch, but she doesn't know how to approach him about it. With Edward's recent kindnesses, she's starting to wonder if Edward in fact likes her for her, and not just as a clone of his younger brother. She can only hope.
Alphonse Elric: Though they have never met, Alphonse is a sort of boogie-man for Alfons. They look the same, and are in the same year, Alfons is frightened that she will be mistaken for Alphonse, and, in some strange form of fashion, only be seen as a 'female double' of him (even though she knows that it's a silly thing to think of and worry about). After they met, things still weren't settled with her, and now she feels like she's a replacement more than ever.
Ryoma Echizen: She doesn't actually talk to Ryoma, but Alfons is a bit intimidated by him, especially because he is so curt, and also because he is close friends with Momo-chan. Without realizing it, Alfons has gotten herself into a rivalry with him for Momo's attention (and maybe even affection...?).
Sasuke Uchiha: She doesn't speak to him much, and even admired his good looks for the first few days she'd seen him, but as of now Alfons is quite irritated with the Uchiha boy. The two have spoken to one another on a few occasions, and Alfons gets along with him fine, but with the current situation with Sakura and Sakura, she wishes he would decide which one he likes, so that he can stop tearing both girls up and causing them to fight each other. She knows that this isn't fully Sasuke's fault, but she thinks that he should actually start thinking about the consequences of his actions...though after an incident with him saving her in the streets of Shibuya, she's starting to see him as a bit more conscious (and yet unconscious) of what he's doing on a certain level, and she's begun to see him in a bit of a different light. Seeing this, she wants to try to get to know him a little better.
Maes Hughes: Alfons’s English teacher, Alfons looks at Mr. Hughes as a very good, intelligent man, who cares about others deeply. She knows about his relationship between him and Roy (to a close extent), though she doesn’t hold it against him, though she does feel sad that his wife has to deal with this. But she knows that he loves his family very much, and she looks up to him like a father figure.
Roy Mustang: Though Alfons doesn’t quite trust him completely, Alfons still likes the librarian quite a bit.
